APPLICATION AND DESCRIPTION

This armoured Cat5E range combines four-pair data cabling with a mica-glass fire barrier and metallic armour. It is intended for fixed network routes where the project specifies both circuit-integrity performance and additional mechanical protection. HDPE+SR-insulated copper pairs are enclosed by the overall barrier, LSZH inner sheath, selected armour and LSZH outer sheath. Screen type and armour type are separate ordering choices.

KEY FEATURES

  • 24 AWG solid bare copper conductors with HDPE+SR insulation.

  • Overall mica-glass tape barrier and LSZH inner and outer sheaths.

  • Nine screen-and-armour combinations across U/UTP, F/UTP and SF/UTP cores.

SELECTION NOTES

Use the full cable designation when selecting dimensions and glands. The fire-performance schedule lists IEC 60331-23 and optional BS 6387 CWZ; state the required test conditions and installation arrangement with the enquiry. Any alternative sheath material requires a separately agreed construction.

RELATED CABLE TYPES

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is this cable used to carry?

It is a four-pair Cat5E data cable for voice and Ethernet network applications, with additional fire-barrier and armour layers.

Which armour options are listed?

Copper wire braid, steel wire braid and steel wire armour, each combined with the available data-core screen arrangements.

Does choosing armour also select a screen type?

No. U/UTP, F/UTP or SF/UTP identifies the data-core screening, while CWB, SWB or SWA identifies the armour outside the inner sheath.

What distinguishes this from flame-retardant armoured Cat5E?

This construction includes an overall mica-glass fire barrier and a circuit-integrity test reference in its fire-performance schedule.

Is BS 6387 CWZ a standard requirement for all orders?

It is listed as optional and must be included in the agreed specification when required.
